21 Truths About Down Syndrome | #WDSD2016

Today is World Down Syndrome Day 2012!

21 March 2012 marks the 7th anniversary of World Down Syndrome Day and for the first time in 2012 this day will be officially observed by the United Nations. Each year the voice of people with Down syndrome, and those who live and work with them, grows louder. But there is still so much more we can do.

Reece's Rainbow is working to do more by doing our part to share the TRUTH about Down Syndrome! So, for today, here are 21 beautiful families of children with Down syndrome and their TRUTH about Down syndrome!

1 I never dreamed the valuable lessons my daughter with DS would teach ME about True Love!!!!
2 Gavin does each new thing he learns with absolute PERFECTION!
3 They are everything wonderful that doctors DON'T tell you, and they are everything that is right in a wrong world.
4 I'll never have to go back to the day before you.
5 She may be nonverbal but Julianne communicates better than anyone I've ever known!
6 They're very much individuals, each with different abilities and interests. They're our sons and daughters.
7 My dreams for Elisha's future are no different than my dreams for her brothers. Down syndrome hasn't changed that!
8 Chloe is breathtakingly beautiful inside and out! She is pure peace
9 We truly love our children with Down syndrome, just as we love our other children. They are amazing, and beautiful!
10 Aiden is just like typical kids in so many ways!
11 I see my world in a whole new way and NEVER want to go back to the way that life was before Sophina Jane Merry!
12 Stas is a teacher of our souls!
13 Down syndrome is nothing to fear.  It's MORE TO LOVE!!
14 It will breathe new life into everything you do. Everything is that much sweeter!
15 They do not stay "babies" or little kids forever. Just like everyone else, they GROW and change.
16 Children with Down Syndrome are very good readers, even before they start kindergarten.
17 The old adage 'they are always happy' is not true, as this attempt at getting a cute photo has proven!
18 Joshua is well loved by all, and has made us all better people!
19 They are the epitome of work ethic. They have to work 2-3 times harder to do some things. But they DO them!
20 After Kellan was born, the best thing I was told was, "this changes nothing, he is still your baby"!
21 We do the same things as other families, and then some!
