Be a Christmas Warrior for an orphan with Down syndrome!

Reece's Rainbow - Corporate Christmas Warriors

Our new Corporate Christmas Warriors program is an incredible way for you to give the Gift of a Family, but also to demonstrate your own Christian and philanthropic efforts to your customers and colleagues.
CCW is a reciprocal links program, where your company logo will be prominently displayed on our Christmas Warriors list, Angel Tree page, and other important pages within our website.   We will provide you with graphics and brochures for your storefront and website locations (as requested), and make it as easy as possible to help a child.

With our feature story in People Magazine, attendance at (60) Buddy Walks throughout the country, and being presented with the 2010 Congressional Angel in Adoption Award, this will be our biggest Angel Tree ever, and a great opportunity for you to increase your own business awareness while saving a child at the same time. Businesses and churches from all over the world are welcome to participate!
The average cost for a family to adopt a child internationally, thereby saving them from life and death in a mental institution, is about $25,000.    I can confidently tell you that if we had a full grant for every child on our website, there would BE no waiting children on our website. The only thing that stands in the way of these children finally having a "forever family" of their own is the cost.

When you sign up as a CCW, your organization will commit to raise funds at a certain level for one of the following:
  1. An individual orphan who is still in need of a Christmas Warrior
  2. A general grant fund for our Older Girls with Down syndrome (ages 6+)
  3. A general grant fund for our Older Boys with Down syndrome (ages 6+)
  4. Our Voice of Hope fund, which makes it possible for Reece's Rainbow to continue this life saving ministry and grow with the needs of our adopting families and waiting children.
  5. Connecting the Rainbow, which is our foreign birth family support outreach project

We so hope you will join us in this special time of fundraising and awareness, and give the gift of a family to an orphan with Down syndrome!  Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your advocacy efforts for these beautiful, deserving children!

With high hopes!,

Buddy Walks Part 2! http://bit.ly/BuddyWalkWarriors

The Buddy Walk 'campaign' has been an enormous success! To quote our Director,

I am blown away by the tremendous response from so many wonderful people to share Reece's Rainbow at their local Buddy Walks. What was a thought on a whim, wondering if maybe a few folks would be willing, turned into an all out massive awareness campaign in 60 cities across the country! YAY!!

In fact, Andrea visited several of the Buddy Walks with her son Reece (Reece's Rainbow is named for him!) and was so blessed to be able to meet so many of the children who have forever families because of the ministry of Reece's Rainbow!

Please watch AND SHARE our Buddy Walk video! http://bit.ly/BuddyWalkWarriors on your blogs and social media! What a tremendous thing these families have done sharing the ministry of Reece's Rainbow at their Buddy Walks!

And now, here is the video! Enjoy!

'As one we can' help the Davis Family

These two beauties are going to a family that God just continued to make sure was a family! Mom & dad have known each other since they we're kids both growing up in active military families & time & time again they were brought back into each others lives until they married. They have a beautiful family of children with special needs and Sarah-Christina (on the R.) and Ava-Marya (on the L.) will be their 9th and 10th blessings. Their dossier is complete and they have a travel date! They'll be meeting their little ladies before the end of this month. Funds are still really, really needed. Please be prayerful in your giving and please keep the Davis family in your prayers as they get ready to travel to Bulgaria for the gifts Gods blessing them with.

Meet the Families of Reece's Rainbow - The Cornish Family

I want to introduce you to the Cornish family. They are adopting from Eastern Europe! You can follow their adoption journey on their blog!

I've asked some questions to help you get to know Mike and Meredith Cornish!

The Cornish Family
Tell me about yourself and your family. We are a family of eight including my husband, Michael, and myself and our six beautiful children. Kristopher is our firstborn, he is six. Brianna is four and was diagnosed with Down syndrome when she was two months old. We then adopted Emma and Micah, now ages 7 and 4, from Ukraine. Both of them also have Down syndrome. God gave us another biological baby after our international adoption, and Lynae just turned a year old. When she was six months old, James moved in and his adoption was finalized on September 1st through the Florida foster care system. He is also 4 years old and has Down syndrome. God laid "Monroe" on our hearts and we are looking forward to making him the 9th member of our family!
What can you tell me about the child you are adopting?
Known as "Monroe" through Reece's Rainbow, but coming home to the name of Wesley Thomas, our little guy is 5 1/2 years old and was born with some difficulties which have caused him to have limited use of his hands, little mobility, and limited vision. He is diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and is legally blind. He holds several other diagnosis along those same lines but his smile lights up the room and we are committed despite the possible complications.
Monroe to be named Wesley Thomas when home

Tell me why you decided to adopt a child with special needs? We have four children with Down syndrome and our oldest daughter, Emma, also has CP. Meredith has worked with Reece's Rainbow Ukraine program for 2 years and has had to keep from looking at all the babies waiting so she didn't fall in love with every one of them. Monroe was posted around and despite our prayers for him to have a family-- none showed up. God moved in our hearts from "ask" to "act" and we committed to Monroe shortly after! Meredith was blessed to meet Monroe during a mission trip in September and cannot wait to go back!
Meredith meeting Monroe in Ukraine in September
What would be your advice to anyone wanting to adopt?  I love the quote that says "I don't think that when I get to heaven God will say to me "why did you take care of so many orphans??".  I stand by that!   Also, research, ask questions, and pray-- then act. God is faithful to those who come to the Throne on their knees!!
In addition to our adoption of Wesley, we are pursuing a second adoption that brings our international adoptions full circle.  In 2008 we tried to adopt a 5 yr old little girl that was transferred to an institution and therefore 'unavailable'.  A missionary contacted me as I was traveling to Ukraine in September and she knows "our" Aleksa!  The missionary went to the director on our behalf and told him of our coming. He has invited us to prepare our paperwork, come to him, and said that we could talk.  We go back in pursuit of not only Wesley, but of little Aleksa who brought us on our original adoption trip, now eight years old.  We don't know what God's plans are, but we're walking by faith one step at a time to see what He is doing in bringing her back up in our lives!

The Cornish's are hoping to travel in November 2010!  Please keep their family in your prayers and if you have a blog will you put their button on it?  If you can help in any way, thank you!

As one we can help the Malone family..

The Malone family are almost done gathering all they need for their dossier to be complete..They're really happy that they've moved so quickly, buttttt...like what almost always seems to be the case~they still are in great need of many funds to get their Ethan home. This family is a beautiful testimony of what it means to answer God's call even when so many try to disway. They've chosen to accept God's gift of all the children He's placed before them in need of a family. Ethan will be their 5th little one with DS, making their home full of life with their total of 9 beautiful children! You can read more about the Malone family on their blog found here: http://themalonefamily.us/?p=1643

You can give a gift by going to their FSP found here:
http://www.reecesrainbow.org/familysponsorshipgettingcloser.html

I want to also let you all know that the Malone family has a wonderful ministry called Eli Project. It's a ministry for orphans found in E.E.

Description:
Eli Project is a Biblically-based, not for profit, Christian ministry organization that is dedicated to the rescue of children with Down syndrome and other special needs from orphanages and mental institutions and children who are near aging-out of orphanages specifically in Ukraine. Eli Project is committed to helping families throughout the process of international adoption from beginning through post-adoption requirements including selecting a child, preparing paperwork (dossier), in-country assistance and post-adoption reporting.

Focus on Down Syndrome - Company d

"Dance is the hidden language of the soul." -Martha Graham

What an amazing group this is!
They are called Company d...

Who are Company d?
Company d, of Memphis Tennessee is a nationally recognized dance company of young adults with Down syndrome, under the artistic direction of Darlene Winters and choreographer. Company d was founded in 2001 and is committed to creating awareness of the talents and gifts of all individuals.
Through weekly class rehearsals and dedicated practices the dancers have now developed into a company that performs to music that represents many forms of dance including jazz, ballet, and modern. Company d members have learned to work as a team and unite into "one movement" through discipline and commitment. It truly is the spirit and belief of everyone involved that members of Company d not only continue to change and grow in their abilities and artistic skills, but their performances shape and grow their audiences from venue to venue.

"If I could tell you what I mean there would be no point in dancing." -Isadora Duncan

The History of Company d...
"The Dancers", a working title that began back in September of 2000, has evolved into a company that consists of fourteen teenagers with a developmental disability who represent six high schools, three counties in West Tennessee. Company d is an organization whose goal is to increase positive public awareness about persons with Down syndrome.
The Company evolved as a result of a planned 15th reunion dinner for Special Kids and Families, to celebrate the organization and a reunion of those young individuals who had benifited from the program. Five of the original dancers who were the first graduates of this early intervention program were asked to provide the entertainment for the evening.
It was this organization that asked "Company d's artistic director, Darlene Winters, to choreograph a piece for its 15th Anniversary dinner. During this three month rehearsal period a passion, fellowship, and community developed among Darlene, the dancers and the parents. Ready to organize and bring the dancers back after several months, Brenda called Darlene. Brenda serves as the Director of Company d. and has an extensive history of advocacy for not only her son but also for all individuals with disabilities. Brenda is responsible for coordination of Company d performances, general operations, and the camaraderie among the parents, as she continues to keep everyone informed and brings everybody together.
